Step 1. Spiritual Exercises
The Spiritual Exercises for Into the Fields draw upon the wisdom of St. Ignatius of Loyola. The text was written and the songs composed by Dan Schutte, with Diana Dudoit Raiche as the general editor. These Spiritual Exercises are intended to help you grow in your faith and deepen your relationship with God.
Each exercise is accompanied by a piece of music meant to draw you into the heart of the prayer. The reflections engage your mind and will, stretch your understanding, and draw you nearer to the heart of the Lord. A series of “suggestions for use” help you derive the maximum benefit. Each exercise ends with a “colloquy,” a prayer conversation with God who loves us intimately. The goal here is to be with the God who loves you far more than you know.
Spend about thirty minutes with the exercise, then ten minutes making notes about your experience. Later, within the large group teaching session, you will be invited to share with others about your personal experiences. |
