Some Final Words
Psychologists who specialize in group dynamics tell us that each group has a life of its own and goes through various stages of development. The group also experiences various changes, such as the loss of a member and the addition of a new member. Each of these changes entails a process of acceptance, adaptation, and growth.

As a facilitator you will want to be familiar at least to some degree with these elements of the life of your group and be attentive in understanding and facilitating the moments of transition and growth as they impact the members of your group.

Your role is an important one in the life and functioning of the group. The more you can develop the skills and knowledge needed to facilitate well, the easier it will be for the group to work together and to build community. Rely especially on prayer and the gift of the Spirit who is active among you, and on the promise of Jesus that “where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them” (Matthew 18:20 ).
